Award-winning contemporary knit blanket.
Name: “A Wisp of your Ancestor”
Dimensions: 130x180 cm
Weight: 1.2kg
Material: Donegal Yarns Galánta Wool
Technique(s): Jacquard knit
Concept: People have an affinity for sitting around campfires- for warmth, ceremony and group gathering. Traditions that have existed for hundreds of years are still practiced today. The feeling of belonging and community one feels while sitting around a fire with others is the same as it was at the beginning of civilisation.
“I see a wisp of your ancestor,
Dancing in this lighted pit
Between us.
Warmth crawling outwards of our fingertips,
Crafting.
A steady flame of kinship.
Deep embers of love and safety.”
A Wisp of your Ancestor is a quote extracted from a self-written poem for my Kinship project. The handwritten knitted stitches are sewn next to a photograph of embers with a yellow thread.
Washing Instructions: Recommended to hang in the outdoors if to air out any undesired scent and restore freshness. Only wash with water if needed to remove stains or stubborn scents.
Hand washing in lukewarm water with a little fabric softener is the best way to care for your scarf. Machine washing is also okay on cold temperature. No tumble drying allowed!! Lay out on clothes horse to dry.
*Shipping included in price*
