Name: “Organic Cable Ripples”
Dimensions: 155x165 cm
Weight: 1kg
Material: Donegal Yarns Galánta, Tweed & Soft Wool, Cushedale bouclé wool
Technique(s): Organic Cable knit, knitted ripples, crochet
Concept: People have an affinity for sitting around campfires- for warmth, ceremony and group gathering. Traditions that have existed for hundreds of years are still practiced today. The feeling of belonging and community one feels while sitting around a fire with others is the same as it was at the beginning of civilisation.
Organic cabling is the knitting stitch used to make this piece. A technique I developed last year, every cable is created in a place that feels right during the knitting. It results in a piece that is completely unique and unable to be replicated.
The knitted cables in this piece are directly inspired by photography of fire. After assigning traditional Aran knit stitches to the flames, embers and burning logs in a sketchbook, the organic cabling technique translates the essence of the fire’s structure into textile.
Washing Instructions: Recommended to hang in the outdoors if to air out any undesired scent and restore freshness. Only wash with water if needed to remove stains or stubborn scents.
Hand washing in lukewarm water with a little fabric softener is the best way to care for your scarf. Machine washing is also okay on cold temperature. No tumble drying allowed!! Lay out on clothes horse to dry.
*Shipping included in price*
